Meat McKenna Hanford’s 2023 Summer Intern
This summer Hanford Packing hired a student intern to learn the tricks of the trade. Today we would like to introduce McKenna and share what her day is like throughout her internship at Hanford’s.
McKenna Wilson is going to be a junior at Purdue University where she is studying Agricultural Economics and Animal Sciences. She is a student employee at the Boilermaker Butcher Block which is the state-inspected meat plant located on campus. McKenna is the Vice President of the Homesteaders Association at Purdue and also an International Agriculture Ambassador.
While she will be returning to Purdue in mid-August, Hanford Packing will be sad to see her go. McKenna has worked throughout the processing room cutting, grinding, and packaging meat. She has also spent days on the harvest floor. McKenna has stated that assisting customers with their orders and answering questions is one of her favorite parts of her internship this summer. Hanford Packing is thankful to have had her help this summer and is even more glad she is able to take everything she has learned and apply it to her work at Purdue.
